EthCC, Protocol Guild and others collaborate to launch an on-chain "time capsule" to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Ethereum Genesis Block.
Gate News bot message, a community-led Ethereum group launched an on-chain “time capsule” on Monday, inviting users to lock artworks, memories, information, and predictions in encryption smart contracts until the 11th anniversary of the Ethereum network next year.
The “time capsule” debuted at the Ethereum community conference (EthCC), supported by Protocol Guild and Shutter Network. Anyone can submit documents for a fee of approximately 2.50 USD in ETH. All proceeds will be donated to Protocol Guild to support core research. Shutter’s threshold encryption technology will seal records starting from July 30, and after one year (on Ethereum’s 11th anniversary), it will open, at which point the contract will decrypt each document and permanently store it on the Ethereum ledger.
“Celebrating that our history can nourish the culture and values of Ethereum,” said Jérôme de Tychey, President of Ethereum-France and founder of EthCC. Protocol Guild contributor “Cheeky Gorilla” stated that this “time capsule” provides an opportunity to “reflect on how we prepare for the next decade.”
