Slovenia announced new rules for the taxation of crypto assets, with a 25% disposal tax from 2026

Gate.io News bot, on April 17, 2025, the Ministry of Finance of Slovenia issued the "Draft Law on Tax on Gains from the Disposal of Crypto Assets" and the "Draft Amendment to the Law on Tax on Income from the Disposal of Derivative Financial Instruments", and opened the public consultation process until May 5.

According to the draft, from January 1, 2026, Slovenian tax residents will be subject to a tax rate of 25% when disposing of cryptoassets. The tax policy only applies to three situations: the exchange of crypto assets for fiat currency, the use of crypto assets to pay for goods or services, and the transfer of crypto assets to others. Swaps between crypto assets and transfers between wallets of the same holder are not subject to taxation.
