Just came across something interesting about Senator Tina Smith's investment portfolio. Apparently her net worth hit around $5.8M as of mid-2025, making her roughly 122nd wealthiest in Congress. What caught my eye though is how she's been trading stocks.
Looking at her disclosed trades from the STOCK Act filings, she's made some pretty bold moves. Back in 2018, she sold $500K of PODD right before it shot up 216% - timing could've been better there. Similar story with DXCM in 2020 (sold at $500K, stock gained 72% since). She also dumped ABT for $500K in 2019, which went on to climb 71%. On the flip side, she sold CUTR in 2018 and that one basically tanked 99.8%, so that worked out in her favor at least.
Her Tina Smith net worth is mostly tied up in publicly traded assets - about $3.4M that can be tracked live. She's got around $7.1M in total documented trades. Recently she bought $250K of TCMD in late 2023, which has only gained 4% so far.
Fundraisingwise, Q1 2025 showed $38.2K raised with about $298K spent. Her Tina Smith net worth position seems solid but honestly, the stock picks are pretty mixed. Some good timing, some not so much. Interesting to see how politicians balance their portfolios alongside their day jobs.
