Optical communication concept stocks rose across the board. Applied Optoelectronics surged by more than 16%. Ciena and Astera Labs rose by more than 5%, Lumentum rose by more than 4%, Coherent rose by more than 3%, and Corning rose by more than 1%.

In terms of developments, the optical fiber industry is seeing a price-hike wave. In its latest research report, UBS cited data from industry research organization CRU. In March, the price of Europe’s G652.D bare optical fiber reached €7.94 per kilometer of fiber (about $9.1), up 136% month-on-month from January and up 159% year-on-year. The price of G657.A1 bare optical fiber—used in indoor and bend-insensitive scenarios—also climbed sharply. The month-on-month price increases for Europe and the U.S. G657.A1 bare optical fiber compared with January 2026 were 130% and 69%, respectively, mainly supported by strong data communications demand and tighter supply.
