The United States announces a 100% tariff increase on imported patented drugs and pharmaceutical ingredients.

Golden Finance reports that on April 3, the White House in the United States said in a statement released on April 2 that U.S. President Trump signed a document that day. Under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, the U.S. will impose a 100% tariff on imported patent drugs and pharmaceutical ingredients. The measure also provides a path for exemptions or tariff reductions, aiming to pressure pharmaceutical companies into reaching agreements with the White House on drug prices and the return of industry, among other things.
