SlowMist founder Cosine: Zcash's privacy mode is more easily accepted by regulators, while Monero remains more "hardcore" in terms of strong privacy.
Odaily Planet Daily news: SlowMist founder Cosine stated in a post that there have recently been opinions claiming “large-scale Zcash transactions can be traced,” but this is nothing new. Since its inception, Zcash’s privacy mode has adopted an “optional privacy” design: z-addresses offer strong privacy, while t-addresses are transparent and traceable. Cosine pointed out that because of this, Zcash is more acceptable in terms of regulatory understanding compared to Monero, which defaults to strong privacy. Currently, almost all Zcash addresses used by mainstream platforms start with t, which also reflects that “the group with a real strong demand for privacy is very small, while platforms need to cater more to regulation.” In his view, in terms of privacy strength, Monero is still a more “hardcore” privacy asset, but Zcash’s design strikes a better balance between privacy and regulation, “so the road may be broader.” Cosine also added an analogy: Bitcoin is like HTTP, Zcash is like HTTP/HTTPS coexistence, and Monero is like pure HTTPS.
