The Baltic Sea region faces a demographic challenge due to a gender imbalance, particularly in countries like Lithuania. This imbalance affects the local marriage market, prompting women to seek partners abroad. Contributing factors include aging populations, economic disparities, and deep-rooted cultural norms. Various governments are implementing initiatives to improve women's opportunities and promote gender equality, recognizing that this issue also has global implications, particularly in Ukraine. Coordinated international efforts are essential for addressing this challenge effectively.
