Sometimes I am not understanding, just reacting. Sometimes I realize that I haven't really learned anything new; I am just constantly reacting to information. They require my attention, but not my understanding. Once I slide past them, there's nothing to go back to. And when information is traceable and reviewable, understanding doesn't have to happen at the same time. It can wait. Thinking thus slows down, but also becomes more durable.
