Georgia is seeking to collaborate with Hedera to advance on-chain property rights and tokenization.
PANews, December 3—According to Cointelegraph, the Ministry of Justice of Georgia has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the public blockchain network Hedera and is currently considering putting the country’s land registration system on-chain and tokenizing real estate. During a meeting between Georgia’s Minister of Justice Paata Salia and Hedera representatives, both parties discussed the potential of integrating blockchain technology into public infrastructure.
Georgian officials stated that they are considering migrating the data of the National Public Registry to a blockchain network, hoping that this move “will further ensure the protection of property rights and enhance the transparency and reliability of processes.” In addition, both sides are considering the tokenization of real estate, a move similar to real-world asset (RWA) tokenization projects. Currently, the agreement is only a non-binding memorandum of understanding. According to the announcement, the next step will be the formation of a joint working group, including experts from the Ministry of Justice and the National Public Registry.
