The World Federation of Exchanges warns the SEC against exemptions for encryption tokens or weakening investor protection.
According to BlockBeats news on November 27, Reuters reported that the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) sent a letter to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) this week, warning that granting regulatory "exemptions" to cryptocurrency companies for the sale of "tokenized stocks" could weaken investor protection and pose risks to market integrity. They stated that "the SEC should avoid granting exemptions to companies attempting to circumvent regulatory principles that have protected the market for decades and should compete with cryptocurrency platforms under the same rules."
