Five Executives at SEC May Delay Spot Bitcoin ETFs - Coin Bulletin
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) may still find a way to delay spot Bitcoin ETFs.
According to a statement made by Anne-Marie Kelley, a former director of the SEC, a single SEC commissioner can request a full Commission consideration of a matter by virtue of the agency's statute.
According to FOX Business reporter Eleanor Terrett, this means that the SEC's 5-person roster may delay the spot Bitcoin ETF.
Commissioners on this roster include Gary Gensler, Caroline A. Crenshaw, Hester M. Peirce, Jaime Lizárraga, and Mark T. Uyenda. With the exception of Peirce, the other executive commissioners are on the side of the Democratic Party.
On the other hand, issuers who have applied to establish ETFs are not worried about the progress of the process. "I've spoken to a couple of people who have now received additional comments (from the SEC)," Terrett said. They said they were not concerned and that the SEC had not made a statement that there had been a change in plans." *Said.
