A particularly simple way to help us understand ourselves: when you watch TV, observe which type of character you identify with or which type of character you particularly like. Generally, there are two situations: first, we tend to empathize with characters that resemble us; second, we tend to support characters that we aspire to become. This is all a projection of our self. For example, in any TV drama, I usually empathize with the character who has been hurt. Even if later on they become dark and do bad things, I can't help but defend them by saying, "But they've been through so much pain, they have suffered such trauma, so I need to understand them." This corresponds to my own state at that time; I also easily feel hurt. Therefore, I unintentionally support those characters who share a similar situation or state with me. Another type is the projection of our ideal self, seeing which type of character we particularly like.

For example, some people particularly like the main character and are very determined. This also indicates that at this stage, you may think you are lacking in this aspect, so you really want these qualities to be present in yourself. Therefore, you will present an attitude of looking up to them, which is somewhat similar to idolizing. The key point is that later, when you realize which roles you identify with, you should ask yourself why you often speak for such characters, why you often envy such characters. Behind this "why" often lies our subconscious. Do I feel that they are very similar to me? Do I think I am as pitiful as they are? Then why do I feel pitiful? Which aspect of this character particularly resonates with your own wounds, your own dissatisfaction, your own fears? Then you might have some answers. I seem to think that I am often treated unfairly like them, and this part contains very valuable information. You haven't processed it well; you haven't brought it up to discuss it seriously, so it has remained undigested in your heart.
