Circle's strategic transformation gradually divests non-core businesses to focus on stablecoin.

Recently, there have been reports that Circle is seeking to sell its crowdfunding business, SeedInvest. According to industry insiders, this sale may face difficulties, primarily due to numerous issues with the initial acquisition structure of SeedInvest, making it challenging for potential buyers to digest this asset.

This trend continues Circle's recent series of business divestitures. Just the day before, Circle announced the sale of its retail investor trading platform, Circle Invest, to a Canadian cryptocurrency brokerage. According to the plan, about 40,000 Circle Invest users will be transferred to the new platform by the end of March, while Circle's stablecoin platform service functions will also be integrated into the acquirer's system.

Looking back to last December, Circle had sold its over-the-counter (OTC) business Circle Trade. At that time, the company stated that it would focus on the stablecoin business in 2020.

This series of business sales and restructuring actions reflects that Circle is actively adjusting its strategic direction. The company seems to be gradually reducing non-core businesses to focus resources on key areas such as stablecoins.
