Telegram founder under investigation in Switzerland for child abuse allegations.

According to reports, the founder of Telegram is facing an investigation by Swiss authorities due to criminal allegations of child abuse made by a former partner. This incident has drawn attention following the founder's recent detention in France, becoming part of a series of legal disputes that also include allegations of unpaid child support and a fierce custody battle.

The Geneva Public Prosecutor's Office initially refused to accept this criminal complaint because the submission was made more than three months after the last alleged incident of physical violence. However, in May 2023, the former partner appealed, and the court decided last October to proceed with the case. According to officials from the Geneva court, the case is currently still under review. The former partner alleges that the founder harmed their youngest child (born in September 2017) five times between 2021 and 2022. These incidents allegedly caused injuries to the child, including concussions and sleep disorders. As evidence, the former partner submitted their communication records from November 2021 and a medical certificate from April 2023, showing that the child continued to suffer from anxiety and sleep issues due to the violent behavior.

The representative of the founder refused to comment on the matter. The lawyer of the former partner confirmed the situation involving the civil case but declined to comment on the criminal complaint. Due to Swiss law, the individuals involved in the criminal case have not been publicly named, but several details in the case can confirm the identity of the founder, including the year of birth of their child and the case number related to the civil child case.

Previously, it was reported that the founder was granted bail after being prosecuted by French authorities but was banned from leaving France. This incident has raised public interest in the private lives of tech industry leaders and highlighted the legal challenges faced by high-profile individuals.
