Recently, an industry sharing session on the integration and development of the Metaverse and Web3 gaming technology has attracted widespread attention. Sebastien, the co-founder of The Sandbox, and Simon Li, the founder of Chain Capital, were invited to attend and delve into the cutting-edge topics in this field.
Simon Li first introduced the ICC Camp startup program. He stated that ICC Camp aims to bring more imagination and creativity to the Web3 gaming space. This is a 6-month acceleration program that brings together professionals from the industry to provide specific guidance for participating projects. The mentor team includes experts from leading venture capital firms, renowned gaming projects, and other related fields.
When it comes to attracting capital interest, Simon believes that Web3 game products should have the following characteristics: innovative gameplay and high-quality gaming experience, a strong community and ecosystem, a healthy token economy, and clear profitability. He emphasized that attracting Web2 players into the Web3 gaming space should focus on the gaming experience, simplifying the onboarding process, and highlighting player ownership and earnings.
Sebastien, as the CEO and co-founder of Sandbox, shared his entrepreneurial experience and the challenges he faced. He stated that Sandbox has developed into a platform with over 5 million users and more than 400 brand partners. Sebastien emphasized the importance of blockchain technology in ensuring users have digital identities, supporting brands and creators in attracting audiences, and participating in governance.
Regarding the evaluation criteria for Metaverse games, Sebastien believes that it should be considered from three aspects: technology and products, content, and the development of the entire ecosystem. He pointed out that the combination of these aspects will create the necessary momentum for the success of the Metaverse.
When discussing the economic models of Web3 games, Sebastien stated that the industry is exploring new business models and looks forward to more innovations in the future. He mentioned several upcoming games based on proven gameplay and incorporating blockchain components, believing that these games will attract more follow and drive industry growth.
Regarding the application of immersive technologies such as VR and AR in the Metaverse, Sebastien believes this is a gradual process. He emphasizes that the Metaverse is not just about graphics or VR; more importantly, it is about how to access through different devices and move seamlessly across multiple platforms while owning one's own data and items.
Finally, Sebastien shared Sandbox's experience on how to collaborate with other Web3 games. He mentioned ways such as NFT interoperability, creative platform collaboration, exploring new monetization models, and supporting the creator community.
This sharing session not only showcased the latest developments in the Web3 gaming and Metaverse fields, but also provided valuable insights and guidance for future entrepreneurs and developers.
