The number of initial jobless claims rose to its highest level since June.

On September 4, the number of initial jobless claims in the United States rose to its highest level since June, further proving that the labor market is cooling down. Data shows that for the week ending August 30, initial jobless claims increased by 8,000 to 237,000. The median forecast from agency surveys was 230,000. Meanwhile, the number of continuing jobless claims remained basically unchanged at 1.94 million. ( Jin10 )
