Golden Finance reports that as of September 16, 2025, approximately 2.5 million ETH (worth about $11.25 billion) are waiting to exit from the Ethereum network validators' exit queue, with the current exit waiting time reaching 46 days, setting a historical record since the implementation of the Ethereum attestation mechanism. The congestion began on September 9, when infrastructure service provider Kiln proactively withdrew all validator nodes due to recent security incidents, pushing approximately 1.6 million ETH into the queue all at once. In addition, since April, the price of ETH has increased by over 160%, prompting some stakers to take profits, while institutions are also adjusting their asset allocations, exacerbating the exit pressure. Despite the surge in exit demand, the influx of validators into the queue remains stable. Analysts point out that a significant amount of exit funds may be re-staked. If 75% of the funds return, it will compound with ETF subscription demand, leading to a significant extension of the activation queue in the coming months.
